04/08/2014 - Ffynnon goes global
On Saturday 2nd August, at a gala ceremony in Athens, Ffynnon was awarded the title of "Wales' Leading Boutique Hotel" at the World Travel Awards. Naturally we're thrilled to bits, especially as the award is a result of a public vote and commendations by leading travel experts.

Hailed as 'the Oscars of the travel industry', the World Travel Awards celebrates its 21st anniversary this year and is acknowledged across the globe as the ultimate travel accolade. It's a huge honour for us and we would like to say a 'huge and very public thank you' to our amazing team of staff - Anwen, Emma, Tim, Abi and Nia with out whom none of this would be possible.

Let the celebrations begin....

18/06/2013 - Compare Your Life
Debra and Steve can be seen over the next few weeks on Channel 4's new lifestyle series 'Compare Your Life'. The programme follows the fortunes of families dreaming of a new life, aided by former Confused.com CEO Carlton Hood.

The story of how the couple gave up high-flying careers in the city to set up Southern Snowdonia's first boutique hotel was featured as a case study to inspire others to follow suit. To find out more about the path they took, follow the series at 8pm on Channel 4.

03/12/2012 - 5 Gold Rings!
It has today been announced that Ffynnon has been awarded the Visit Wales Gold Award for the fifth year running. Naturally we're delighted, especially as it comes hot on the heels of the 'Tripadvisor Travellers Choice' award for being one of the best places to stay both in the UK and in Europe.

The main aim of the Gold Award is to reward outstanding quality, exceptional comfort and hospitality and to recognise businesses that have been successful in a Mystery Shopper exercise to test their customer interaction skills. We're still trying to work out who the mystery shopper was but in the meantime would like to say a huge 'thank you' to the wonderful team of staff who look after our customers so well.

04/06/2012 - Hazel - our new suite opens today
Today sees the arrival of the very first guests in Hazel, our new suite. We're very excited as not only has the room come together on time but we've now got so much more flexibility and space for our guests, especially for families, honeymooners or those seeking peace and solitude.

It's a large suite of 3 rooms on the second floor with stunning views across the valley and down the Mawddach estuary. Decorated in calm colours inspired by the Snowdonia landscape and featuring lots of natural materials including marble, Welsh oak, wool and slate, the suite includes a large bedroom with an oak-framed king-size bed, a separate, private lounge whihc converts to a twin bedroom and comes complete with full entertainment system; and an en-suite bathroom with a wet-room style shower area, large freestanding bateau bath and lots of marble!

We'll be posting lots of lovely pictures shortly but the room is bookable online immediately.

18/01/2012 - TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards
We were thrilled to learn recently that Ffynnon has been included in both the Top 25 B&B's in UK and in Europe in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards 2012. The awards recognise the world’s and the UK’s best properties across several categories, including best hotels, best B&Bs, best for service, best luxury properties and more.

Unlike any other hotel honours, TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice winners are based on millions of valuable reviews and opinions from travellers around the world. As we're one of only 3 establishments throughout the whole of Wales who have been included, we would like to say an enormous 'thank you' to all of our guests for posting such kind reviews about us.

21/11/2011 - Gold Award 2012
It has today been announced that Ffynnon has been awarded the Visit Wales Gold Award for the fourth year running. Naturally we're delighted, especially as it comes hot on the heels of the 'Best Place to Stay' Award'.

13/10/2011 - Hotel industry keeping ahead in Gwynedd
Following the recent publication of a study by the British Hospitality Association into the importance of tourism on the economy in rural areas, Debra was interviewed by BBC Wales to find out what contributed to Ffynnon's success.

"Keeping ahead of the competition and offering something different is the way to succeed according to two business in Dolgellau, Gwynedd. Ffynnon boutique hotel owners Steve Holt and Debra Harris researched the area before starting in business five years ago......." Read the full article here.

11/03/2011 - Business Woman of the Year 2011
Debra is thrilled to have won the award for the 'Welsh Business Woman of the Year (Touism Business)' at the Welsh Women Mean Business (WWMB) awards held at the Vale Resort in Cardiff on March 11th 2011. Well done Deb!

04/11/2010 - Best Place to Stay in Wales
On October 21st, Ffynnon won the prestigious 'Best Place to Stay' (small) award at the National Tourism Awards in Cardiff. These awards, organised by Visit Wales are held every few years to showcase the best the principality has to offer.

In determining the winner, the judges were looking for a unique, innovative, high quality place to stay which offers visitors a truly memorable experience and breaks new ground in customer service, comfort and hospitality. They were impressed by our willingness to go the 'extra mile' and by the quality and care we apply to everything we do.

Needless to say we're absolutely over the moon to have won, particularly as over 400 businesses entered the awards, representing the creme de la creme of Welsh hospitality. The only downside was that there could only be one winner as Debra's brother Gavin and his partner Christopher, owners of manorhaus in Ruthin, were also finalists in the same category. Maybe next year!
